Worst signing ever? Manchester United reject Bebe set to leave after SEVEN games in four years

Manchester United flop Bebe could be moving to Portuguese side Benfica – after only making seven competitive starts in four years for the club.

The 24-year-old was signed in 2010 by then manager Sir Alex Ferguson despite the fact the Scot had never seen him play.

And the winger, who was bought for £7million from Vitória de Guimarães, only featured in two Premier League, three League Cup, one FA Cup and one Champions League match in his time at Old Trafford.

The rest of his four years at the club were spent out on loan at Beşiktaş, Rio Ave and Paços de Ferreira.

And while the Portuguese was a flop for United, fans received a double-whammy after learning that World Cup sensation James Rodriguez was offered to the club twice.

But instead of taking the Columbian, who was top goalscorer with six at this summer’s tournament and is a target for Real Madrid, Bebe was signed alongside Javier Hernández and Chris Smalling.

Despite his brief appearances on the pitch, Bebe did manage to score two goals – his first being against Wolverhampton Wanderers and his second a Champions League goal against Bursaspor.

The potential move is reported to be part of a £16m part deal as new United manager Louis van Gaal looks to bring in Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan.

Fans took to Twitter after hearing the news, with many of his cult following disappointed he could be moving.
