Tottenham Hotspur new-boy Emmanual Adebayor is relishing the chance to shine in his first full season as a Spurs striking after successfully signing his way out of Manchester City.

The 28-year-old Togo international has had a difficult three years with the Blues after Roberto Mancini replaced Mark Hughes as manager, leaving Adebayor as an outcast.

And after only making 34 appearances in 36 months for the Blues, Adebayor returns to White Hart Lane having netted 18 times in 37 games last season – a deal that sees the former Arsenal man taking a heavy pay cut from the riches of City’s wage book.

"I'm back!!!! Tottenham here I come!! I'm hungry for goals...Get ready," Adebayor Tweeted yesterday.

"I am pleased to be signing for Spurs on a permanent basis after finally agreeing my departure with Manchester City," he added on Spurs' website.

"It may have taken longer than expected but I am delighted to be back at Tottenham Hotspur.

"I really enjoyed my time here last season and I am hoping we can achieve great things together again.''

He spent three and a half years at the Gunners and infamously ran the entire pitch to celebrate in front of their travelling fans after scoring for City.

But his move to Tottenham will be welcomed by the Londoners after linking up well with Rafael van der Vaart white on loan last season.

Tottenham also remain in talks with Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid – another club Adebayor was loaned out to – over the potential sale of Luka Modric.
