Stockport man beats own crippling confidence issues to throw lifeline to others

A Stockport man who once suffered with crippling self-confidence issues is offering online support to others, after turning his life around.

Theo J Ellis, 25, runs a ‘self-improvement site’ called Just Be Real, which offers support and advice to people battling with insecurity.

He set up the site with the aim to help improve people’s beliefs, self-discipline, and overall happiness to help them improve themselves and their career.

He told MM: “Personal development changed my life and the way I think. It changed my perspective on a lot of different things like finances, business and my confidence in my abilities, and that has had a direct impact on me and my life.

“I dealt with bullying a lot through my childhood, mainly through high school because I was quiet, different and not a follower. There was always people trying to bring me down, telling me I can’t do this, I can’t do that. All that negativity did affect my confidence. It was only in my late teens that I began to gain confidence in myself.

“I believe my site helps others to take a different view on life, learn how to discipline themselves and have the courage to do what they believe in. Many people are afraid to do what they want because of outside opinions, so it helps with that too.”

The major breakthrough for the site came when Theo was made redundant in 2012, which allowed him to sum up the courage to set up his own business and work for himself.

The 25-year-old decided to launch his own website, JustBeReal, after feeling like he had been left to deal with his problems alone in the past.

The site is mainly funded through a retail business Theo runs on eBay but due to a few recent problems he has faced another setback and is currently in the process of picking himself back up again.

His work has also been published on Addicted 2 Success, Tiger Freedom and Pick the Brain, sites which all focus on motivation and self-improvement.

Theo’s work has received a lot of encouraging attention, and although a lot of it is coming from contributing to the larger sites, he feels that the positive feedback does show that people are interested in his advice and opinions.

He has also received a lot of positive attention and support from his twitter followers and therefore feels that the site has the potential to become a successful online business, providing solutions from personal experience.

The 25-year-old is now urging people in need of help or advice in life and business to contact him with the promise to respond within 48 hours.
