I'm sorry mum: Mario Balotelli apologies for behaviour but commits future to Manchester City

Mario Balotelli is committing to Manchester City and apologised to his mother for another controversial season with the Premier League champions

There have been rumours in the Italian’s home country about a possible swap move that would see AC Milan defender Thiago Silva move to the Etihad.

But the enigmatic striker, who was told he would not play for the rest of the season by Roberto Mancini following his red card at Arsenal, denied the links.

"I play at Manchester City," Balotelli said today in Gazzetta dello Sport. "I am happy at City and I will remain there."

Balotelli joined City from the manager’s former team Inter Milan in August 2010 and his contract runs until June 2015.

But the 21-year-old insists they are just rumours which link him to the Milan – a team he supported since he was young.

"I don't know anything," he said. "I haven't had any contact with [(AC Milan] in the past few years."

And Balotelli would welcome the signing of Brazilian international Silva: "If Thiago Silva was to arrive to City then for sure we would be stronger."

Balotelli cemented his place in the hearts of millions after coming off the bench during City’s outstanding win against QPR to set up Sergio Aguero’s injury-time championship winner.

But he believes there is a lot of room for improvement on and off the pitch following a year of making the headlines.

"This year we were the strongest team and we deserved to win," he said. ”As for my season, I give myself a pass mark.

"I am young and it is normal that I make mistakes.

"But with regards to the psychological aspect, I don't pay attention because I am fed up with what everyone says.

"I just have to improve tactically, mature and score always.

"In England they tend to exaggerate regarding what I do off the pitch.

"But those that love me know what I am really like.

"I'm just sorry for my mother because certain stories might upset her."
