‘Street race’ Audi smash: Two arrested after young couple killed in Salford three-car horror crash

Two men have been arrested after a three-car smash in Salford left a young couple dead yesterday afternoon.

Aaron Tulsa Jones, a 19-year-old from Horwich, and his girlfriend Amy Louise Hobson, 22 were killed when the Vauxhall Corsa they were travelling in collided with an Audi RS3 and S3 at 4.55pm on East Lancashire Road, near to the junction with Barton Road.

Mr Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ms Hobson was taken to hospital with serious injuries but later died.

A 25 and 27-year-old were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and they remain in police custody for questioning.

It is believed that the two Audis may have been racing at the time of the incident.

The A580 between Lancaster Road and Worsley Road was closed in the aftermath of the accident on the eastbound carriageway.
