Tributes are pouring in after a Bolton father-of-two was killed in a road collision while walking along Leigh Road on Friday September 13.

Bolton-born Maurice Melvyn Isherwood died after he was involved in a collision with a Toyota Aygo shortly before 9.10pm leaving behind his wife Sandra and sons Damian and Michael.

In a statement, his family said that the 65-year-old family man enjoyed taking his children fishing, wresting and to the cinema and was an avid snooker player with a penchant for the theatre.

Maurice also enjoyed coach holidays in the UK, and trips to different countries abroad.

They added: “Wherever he was Maurice loved music, especially the 50s and 60s, and was renowned for his renditions of Elvis, Roy Orbison and Billy Fury on Karaoke.

“Maurice was a very generous person and would not hesitate to offer a kindness to anyone in need. It was not unusual for Maurice to invite people without a family of their own to Christmas dinner.

“Westhoughton has lost a little bit of colour – RIP Maurice.”

Officers who attended the scene of the accident were told that a pedestrian was involved in a collision and rushed Maurice to hospital.

He was treated for a bleed to the brain, a fractured pelvis and a collapsed lung but died from his injuries on Thursday. The driver was uninjured.

Witnesses are asked to call traffic police on 0161 856 4741.
