Parklife manhunt: Widnes man arrested over Robert Hart’s death charged with two different attacks

A man arrested in connection with the death of Robert Hart has been charged with two unrelated attacks that happened at Parklife.

Detectives arrested Leon Anthony Wong, 31, in Cheshire on Saturday in relation to the attack that led to 26-year-old Robert’s death at the Parklife Weekender Festival at Heaton Park on Saturday June 7.

However Wong, of Elstree Court, Widnes, Cheshire, is now charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, affray and causing actual bodily harm in connection with incidents unrelated to Robert’s death.

The GBH charge relates to an assault on a man who was kicked in the head during the festival and the ABH offence relates to another man who was punched in the face.

Wong is due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 24.

Detective Inspector Richard Eales said: “We received some information about Robert Hart’s death that led to this arrest, however the charges in no way relate to the attack on Robert and we now do not believe there to be any link between Robert and the man charged.

“It is important the judicial process is allowed to run its course and the case heard unprejudiced in a court of law and I would urge people not to speculate or pass comment about this incident, especially on social media.

“I want to reassure the public, who have been hugely supportive and helpful with this investigation that our search for Robert’s attacker continues and our resolve to see him brought to justice remains as strong as ever.

“I also want to remind people that the organisers of Parklife are offering a £20k reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible so please if you know who attacked Robert or have information that can help, get in touch.”
