Going once, going twice, sold! Ex-Man Utd striker Dion Dublin scores Homes Under the Hammer presenter role

Former Manchester United striker Dion Dublin is to join the presenting team on BBC One property show Homes Under the Hammer, the channel has announced.

The ex-England international has worked extensively in the media since retiring, and has appeared as a guest on the BBC’s Match of the Day programmes on numerous occasions.

However, he has developed a keen interest in property development since hanging up his boots, and has now made a surprise switch to the long-running daytime show.

Dublin said: “I am thrilled to be joining Martin Roberts and Lucy Alexander on Homes Under the Hammer.

“I have a passion for property and look forward to meeting people on the show who share that passion.”

The former Aston Villa and Coventry City man has been a regular on BBC One’s Late Kick Off in the Anglia region in recent years.

He has also worked on BBC radio, appearing on the panel on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk and co-presented the station’s 606 fan phone-in.

Away from football, the forward has developed something of a career in music, inventing a percussion instrument known as ‘The Dube’ during his time at Norwich City.

He has also been working as the manager of a Nottingham-based indie rock band called The Establishment.

He has changed paths once again to join the 19th series of the programme which follows three properties bought at auction and the renovations the buyers have planned.

The three presenters will also look at any problems the new owners encounter and whether they make a profit or a loss from buying under the hammer.

Jo Street, Acting Controller of BBC Daytime, said: “I am thrilled that Dion Dublin is joining the Homes Under the Hammer line-up.

“He shares Martin and Lucy’s passion for properties and people and his warm personality make him the perfect addition to the family.”
