Please Sir Alex, I want some more: Manchester United’s title triumph leaves Jonny Evans craving success

By Alex Bysouth

Title hungry Jonny Evans admits the first feeling of Premier League success with Manchester United left him craving another…and another.

Having wrapped up this year’s title against Aston Villa on Monday, the Northern Ireland international now has three league winners’ medals to his name.

And the defender is convinced the lingering taste of title glory is what inspired the Red Devils’ players to secure United the unprecedented 20th league triumph in style.

“The first title just makes you more hungry,” he told manutd.com. “You experience that feeling and you don’t want anyone else to have it.

“You develop a selfishness and a determination to experience that feeling again and again. It’s a great motivation for everyone.”

Evans and co were left starved of silverware last season as rivals Manchester City sealed the league in dramatic fashion.

But the 25-year-old believes that famished feeling became a driving force among Sir Alex Ferguson’s side as they romped to victory with four games to spare this campaign.

“What happened last season has been in the back of our minds and perhaps subconsciously it gave us an extra motivation,” said Evans.

“But we’re always determined to succeed here no matter what.”

United boss Ferguson has pitted together a blend of youth and experience at Old Trafford and Evans insists morale among the camp is higher than ever.

“You have to look forward,” he added. “That’s one of the great things about the manager – he is looking forward regardless of whether we win or lose the league.”

“We’ve got a lot of experience and players who are maturing at the right time.

“I can honestly say that we all come into training every day with a smile on our faces.”
