Rusholme racist attack: Asian mother kicked by thugs as her children play on park swings

By Dean Wilkins

A mother was racially attacked by a group of mindless thugs as she played with her three children in Rusholme on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old Asian woman was with her young children who were playing on the swings in Birchfields Park when she was approached by a man and three teenaged girls.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm on May 22 when the mob shouted abuse at the family and kicked the woman in her legs before the man exposed himself.

“We are treating this as a hate crime,” said Police Constable Matt Long, of Longsight Police. “The fact that the offenders carried out the attack in front of the victim’s children proves what kind of people they are.”

He added: “We believe there may have been a number of people in the park due to the time that this happened and the recent nice weather so I would ask them to come forward and get in touch.”

One woman is described as being white, in her late teens, had long black hair with red tints and wore a black top with blue jeans.

The second woman is described as being white, in her late teens, had blonde hair and wore a tight black top and short black skirt.

The third woman is described as being white, in her late teens, had blonde hair and wore a top with black, beige and red lines on it. She also wore tight black leggings.

The man is described as being black, in his 20s, of slim build, shaved head and wore diamond style earrings in both ears. He was wearing a grey top and grey jogging pants.
