Three men charged after horrific Bolton car crash leaves boy, 12, fighting for life

Three men have been charged following an horrific crash in Bolton that left a 12-year-old boy fighting for his life.

The crash, which occurred at around 11.30pm on St Helen’s Road in Duabhill, Bolton, was so violent that it left debris across the road and hospitalised two people.

Two Vauxhall Astras had been driving down the road, before colliding with a BMW 320 that was entering the road.

The force of the collision caused one Astra to crash into a 12-year-old boy and a 50-year-old man, who were both taken to hospital.

The young boy is now showing signs of improvement and the man remains in a stable condition.

Police Sergeant Danny Byrne said: “As a result of our inquiries, we have now charged three people. We understand how emotional and distressing this incident has been, not just for the families of everyone involved but across the wider community, and we will continue our inquiries to establish all the facts before this matter goes before a court. “

The suspects have been placed in custody and will appear today at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.

Mohammed Vohra, 20, of Mancroft Avenue, was charged with perverting the course of justice.

Mohammed Usman Patel, 20, of Leech Street, was charged with perverting the course of justice, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Furqaan Mohmed, 19, of Gibbon Street, was also charged with two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

“I want to stress that it is important that we allow that legal process to happen correctly, properly and unimpeded and therefore we cannot make any further comment, nor speculate on exactly what happened,” Police Sergeant Byrne said.

“Our thoughts remain with the family of everyone involved and we continue to support the family of the young boy and hope he continues with his recovery.”

Officers urge anyone with information to call the police on 0161 856 4741.
