After hundreds of people died during the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia for Eid Al-Adha, Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk has offered his condolences to local families who may have loved ones involved in the stampede.
At least 717 people were killed during the stampede at the pilgrimage in Mina, about three miles from the holy city of Mecca, and a further 863 people were injured.
More than two million people took part in the ancient ritual as the final part of the three day pilgrimage and the Foreign Office is urgently trying to attain information about whether British nationals were involved.

Writing to all Rochdale mosques, Mr Danczuk has offered his assistance and extended advice to anyone attempting to contact loved ones in Saudi Arabia.
He said: “My office is on hand to offer help and support to anyone who is worried about their loved ones at this difficult time.”
Offering his sympathies and understanding, the Labour MP added: “That this has happened at such a special time as Eid makes it all the more upsetting.”
He continued by expressing concern for all local people who may be involved.
He said: “My heartfelt concern is with the relatives of all those who have been killed and particularly with families in Rochdale who may be frantically trying to contact loved ones in Saudi Arabia.”
