‘No holds barred’: New Order’s Peter Hook to spill beans at Salford Lads’ Club

Legendary Manchester musician Peter Hook is set to appear at Salford Lads’ Club on Saturday October 15 to promote his new book.

Best known for his career with Joy Division and New Order, Hook will sit down in front of a crowd of fans to chat about his new book Substance: Inside New Order.

There will also be an opportunity for fans to ask questions about the book and Peter’s notoriously tumultuous relationship with his former band mates in a Q&A after the interview.

Audience members will also be able to purchase copies of Substance: Inside New Order for Peter to sign on the night.

The book will be launched at a sold out event at The Albert Chop House on October 10, but after high demand from fans a second event at the Salford Lads’ Club has now been added.

Substance: Inside New Order is Hook’s third book after The Haçienda: How Not to Run a Club, an account of his experiences as The Haçienda’s co-owner, and Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division, his retelling of the band’s brief but brilliant career.

Hook has said his latest book will be a “no-holds-barred” peek into life inside New Order, the band that he left in 2007 and who he is now in a legal scuffle with.

Peter claims that his old band “pillaged his name” and left him short of £2.3 million.

New Order were formed in 1980 from Joy Division, and had success with hits like Blue Monday, the best-selling 12 inch single of all time, and records, Movement, 1981, and Substance in 1987, their best selling album.

The band’s characteristic blend of post-punk and electronica played a huge part in the dance music revolution and earned them immense critical acclaim.

Substance: Inside New Order is published on Thursday October 6.
