Salford horror smash: Second man charged over crash that killed young couple

A second man has been charged and is due to appear in court today after two people died in a horrific three-car collision in Salford.

Steven James Ward, 25, of South Avenue, Swinton, is charged with two counts of dangerous driving.

He is due before Salford and Manchester Magistrates’ Court today.

Shortyly before 5pm on Sunday, June, 22, an Audi RS3 and an Audi S3 were travelling eastbound along East Lancashire Road, Swinton, when they collided with a Vauxhall Corsa near the junction with Barton Road.

The driver of the Corsa, Aaron Tulsa Jones, 19, suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, Amy Louise Hobson, 22, also suffered serious injuries and she was taken to hospital.

She later died in hospital as a result of those injuries.

Carl David Wood, 27, of St James Street, Farnworth, Bolton, was charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and has been remanded in custody.

He will appear before Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square, on July 8.
