Third time unlucky for Manchester United: ‘Priceless’ Cesc Fabregas is staying put, insists Barcelona

By Marios Papaloizou

No amount of money will convince Barcelona to part with Manchester United target Cesc Fabregas according to the club’s vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The midfielder has been the subject of three transfer offers from the Reds – who see the player as the solution to their midfield troubles.

However, despite offering a reported club record fee of £35million, it now appears that Fabregas will not be lining up in a United shirt next season.

“It does not matter what they offer us, we are not selling him,” said Bartomeu at the unveiling of Barca’s new manager.

“United’s interest for Cesc Fabregas is obvious, he’s a great player but it does not bother us.”

Despite David Moyes claiming that negotiations for the midfielder were ‘ongoing’ new manager Gerardo Martino reiterated the clubs ‘not for sale’ stance.

“I’m not going to involve myself in the club’s accounts, but considering the club has already rejected two offers, I would guess it will reject a third,” Martino said.

“In other words, Fabregas will remain here.”
