A Manchester pervert who used a fake name to trick a 15-year-old boy into adding him on Facebook and sent him lewd messages was handed a three-year community order and supervision order on Tuesday.
Michael James Lacey, 25, of Avril Close, Reddish, pleaded guilty to inciting a boy to engage in sexual activity at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court and was also ordered to sign the Sex Offender’s Register for five years.
The abuse started when the schoolboy started receiving messages on Facebook from someone who appeared to have similar mutual friends and accepted Lacey as a friend.
Lacey then started to send messages of a sexual nature and after receiving the victims BlackBerry messenger details the messages became increasingly lewd and explicit.
The victim tried to defriend and ignore Lacey and eventually told one of his teachers who called the police. Lacey was then identified and arrested.
Detective Sergeant Graham Lynn said: “This campaign of abuse included often lewd and disgusting messages which distressed the victim.
“Thankfully, the boy did the right thing and spoke to someone.”
