Green army: Bolton Wanderers launch ‘military style’ third kit in support of Limbless Veterans charity

Limited edition military style green shirts are to be launched as Bolton Wanderers’ third kit in support of Blesma, The Limbless Veterans.

The shirts, limited to just 1,000, are available for season ticket holders to pre-order from the club’s website for £10.

And the sale of each jersey will go directly to the charity, which provides rehabilitation and support for people who have been injured on military service.

Bolton Chairman Phil Gartside expressed his pride at the agreement between the club and their official charity partners for the 2014-15 season.

“Everyone at Bolton Wanderers is proud to be supporting Blesma and the incredible work they do in supporting our limbless veterans,” he said.

The one of a kind top is available from 10am today, with any remaining shirts going on general sale on Tuesday October 14.

The shirts are adorned with the slogan ‘Lest We Forget’ on the back and have words from Laurence Binyon’s poem For the Fallen inside the neck label.

Blesma was formed in the aftermath of the First World War and is the national charity for all limbless service and ex-service men and women and their families.

Barry Le Grys, the Chief Executive of the charity which currently consists of over 4,000 members and widows, expressed his delight and gratitude at the club’s support.

“We are delighted Bolton Wanderers have launched this initiative,” he said.

“Today our members face the realities of limb loss every day of their lives.

“With support like this they will not be alone as they strive for independence and purpose.  We are immensely grateful.”

In support of Blesma, there will be a bucket collection and other match day activities planned ahead of the game against Derby at 3pm on Saturday.
