Anderson storms to Manchester United fans' vote after sensational half hour to overcome Harry Redknapp's QPR

Brazilian playmaker Anderson only needed half an hour to scoop Manchester United fans’ Man of the Match following his game-changing performance on Saturday.

The 24-year-old midfielder has had a bitter-sweet season with the Reds having started brightly but losing his place to a bulging bench of midfield talent.

But having come on as a second-half substitute, Anderson helped to overturn another losing scoreline as Harry Redknapp watched QPR lose 3-1.

Anderson stormed to fans’ vote with 71% and fended off stiff competition from goalscorers Darren Fletcher (14%) and Jonny Evans (13%) to improve his chance of earning a key role as a first-team.

"It's been one game here and one game there and a bit up and down, but my aim is to just keep progressing and to play consistently,” he told the club’s official website.

"If I can stay fit and play well I know I'll get opportunities."

Fletcher scored his first goal in a year after fighting back from a chronic bowel illness to return to top-flight football – and after Evans netted his third of the season Javier Hernandez sealed the win and grabbed United’s third goal in eight minutes.

The Reds now sit top of the table, one point clear of rivals Manchester City, and host West Ham on Wednesday.
