Eccles knife attack: Police appeal after boy, 17, robbed in ‘traumatic’ experience

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old boy was robbed of his mobile phone at knifepoint in Eccles.

The incident occurred at around 6pm on Tuesday May 12 when the teenage victim was approached from behind as he walked through wasteland near to the canal bank to the rear of Verden Road.

Without warning the offender grabbed the victim and slammed him to the floor, pulling a knife out of his pocket and demanding that he hand over his mobile phone.

The terrified victim handed over his phone and pin number and the offender ran off along the canal path towards Parrin Lane Bridge.

Detective Constable Derek Nellany said: “This aggressive assault and theft has understandably left the victim shaken and upset.

“The offender has put him through a traumatic experience and there is a strong chance that this man will put others through the same ordeal unless we can catch him.
