Sick Suarez wannabe bites off part of victim’s EAR in Manchester city centre fight

A sick Suarez wannabe is being hunted by police after biting part of a man’s ear off during vicious assault in Manchester city centre.

The incident took place at 3am last Saturday when the 21-year-old victim was approached by a group of men while walking down Portland Street with his girlfriend.

An image of his suspected attacker also looks uncannily like the Uruguayan striker Suarez whose World Cup campaign ended in disgrace this week when he bit Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder.

One of the men barged into the young man, which started an argument and escalated quickly to a fight.

The victim’s head was smashed on a telephone box and he fell to the floor.

Once there, his attacker got on top of the him and chomped down on his ear before jumping up and running away.

After the cannibalistic culprit scarpered, the lobe-less lad was left to frantically search for the part of his ear that was ripped away before heading to the hospital for reattachment.

Detective Constable Robert Ashurst said: “Quite often people who attack innocent victims in the street are described as ‘animals’, but in this case that rings particularly true.

“This is a nasty case in which a few heated words have turned into a brutal attack that has left a man needing serious treatment.

“The victim was simply trying to ensure his girlfriend was safe and instead suffered a permanently disfiguring injury.”

WANNABE? Suarez received a four-month ban for biting during the World Cup

The offender is described as a white man in his early 20s, around 6ft tall and with a slim to medium build. He has short, dark hair and was wearing a red or blue bubble jacket.

Police have released a picture of the toothy thug in the hope he is brought to justice.

Detective Ashurst said: “The shocking nature of this attack means we are extremely keen to bring this man to justice as soon as possible, as he has already shown he is capable of extreme violence.

“If you recognise the man in this picture please contact police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 2510, 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
