Man left in serious condition after being stabbed in neck and face in Stockport

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in the neck and face in Stockport yesterday.

At around 4.25pm, police were called to Meyer Street to reports that a man had been stabbed.

Officers attended and found a 27-year-old man being treated by ambulance staff for a stab wound to his neck and face.

The man was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition which is not thought to be life-threatening.

An initial investigation has revealed that the stabbing took place in the victim’s white Toyota Auris on St Paul’s Street, Stockport.

After being stabbed the victim drove himself to Meyer Street, where he was discovered by ambulance staff.

The offender is described as a white man, skinny build, wearing a cap.

Detective Sergeant David Chambers said: “This incident has left a man with quite serious injuries, who is now recovering in hospital following surgery.

“We believe the stabbing took place on St Paul’s Street, so we would request that anyone who may have seen the victim’s car on either St Paul’s Street or Meyer Street to come forward.

“Similarly, if you believe you witnessed the attack, or recognised the description of the offender then please call us as soon as possible.”
