Man, 32, arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after two-year-old boy dies in Oldham gas explosion

A 32-year-old-man is being questioned by police after being arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of a two-year-old boy in an explosion in Oldham.

Jamie Heaton died in the blast on Buckley Street at around 11.15am on Tuesday, approximately 30 minutes after a gas leak was reported to the National Grid.

A 27-year-old man was taken to Wythenshawe hospital with 80% burns and remains in a serious but stable condition.

The 32-year-old man remains in custody. Inquiries are ongoing.
