Mum and BABY attacked in own Rochdale home leaving her unconscious as tot lay injured

A defenceless mother was knocked unconscious at her Rochdale home after an attacker pounced on her… as she held her baby.

Police were called to the house in Heywood just after 5:30pm last Wednesday (July 23) where an assailant is alleged to have assaulted and threatened several of those present.

This includes the ‘serious injuries’ suffered to the mother and a ‘minor injury’ to the baby.

Detective Inspector Caroline Ward said: “To assault a woman is an appalling incident in itself, but to attack a woman holding a baby elevates the seriousness to an even more unpalatable level.”

The mother, 30, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police are now appealing for help in tracing 32-year-old John Lamb, who they would like to speak to in relation to the incident.

He is said to have links to Heywood and Rochdale and police urge people to contact them if they know of his whereabouts.

However, DI Ward warned: “If he is seen he is not to be approached.”

APPEAL: Police want to speak to John Lamb

If you have information about the incident or in tracing John Lamb, please call police on 0161 856 8470 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
