Motorcyclist, 25, dies after crash with Ford Focus in Wigan

A 25-year-old motorcyclist has died after a crash in Wigan last night.

Police were called to Larch Avenue in Worsley Hall, Pemberton, to a report of a collision at around 9.15pm last night.

Officers attended and established that a Ford Focus was travelling on Claude Street when it collided with a Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle at the junction of Larch Avenue.

The 25-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to hospital, but sadly died. The 35-year-old driver of the car was uninjured.

Larch Avenue and Claude Street were closed while emergency services dealt with the scene, but have since been reopened.

Police Constable Phil Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family of the man who tragically died as a result of this collision. We have specially trained officers supporting them at this distressing time”.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with information about the incident to come forward and speak to police.”
