Flitcroft to galvanize ’empty’ Bury after losing unbeaten home record

Bury manager David Flitcroft has said he must bring the squad together as they look to end a run of three straight defeats against Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Shakers lost their unbeaten record at the JD Stadium last time out but will be looking to make home advantage pay.

Flitcroft knows the importance of getting back on the winning trail after Bury have fallen to seventh in the League Two table.

“They’re a group of players who want to get better and want to be guided. It’s my job to galvanize them,” he said.

“Getting a synergy between the players has possibly taken a little longer than we hoped.

“It’s my job to give them a plan and for them to execute it: they’re hurting and there’s an empty feeling.”

The Bury squad has been shaken up again this week with the additions of Robert Milsom from Rotherham United and Adam El-Abd from Bristol City.

Milsom is a versatile player and can operate on the left-hand side of midfield or in the centre of the park as well as filling in at full-back when required.

Meanwhile Egyptian centre back El-Abd can include Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion among his former sides and has signed until Saturday January 31.

There have also been a number of out-goings with James Poole and Joe Thompson joining Dover Athletic and Wrexham on a short term loan deals.

Joe Widdowson has joined Saturday’s rivals Dagenham & Redbridge on loan until January 4 after signing last August but is ineligible to play against his parent club.

The Daggers have also signed forwards Patrick Agyemang and Alex Jakubiak who have both been included in the travelling squad and could make their debuts.

The loan deadline slammed shut yesterday and now former Rochdale midfielder Flitcroft must work with the squad he has until the January transfer window.

Bury remain in the FA Cup and face fellow League Two promotion chasers Luton Town next month as well as the annual hectic festive period.
