Canal Street rape: Image released of suspect after young man raped when using bar’s toilet

A CCTV image of a rape suspect has been released after a man was attacked in the toilet of a Canal Street bar earlier this month.

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday April 19 when a man in his 20s was followed into the bar’s toilet and raped.

Greater Manchester Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident but they have not disclosed the name of the bar.

Detective Constable Ruth Holland from the Serious Sexual Offences Unit said: “We are keen to speak to the man in the image and would ask if anyone recognises him that they get in contact with police.

“I would like to reassure the community that this is an isolated incident but would ask anyone with information or concerns to call us.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 2124 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
