Could you Breakout? MM’s special forces navigate enemy territory in live escape game

Just a stone’s throw away from Manchester Town Hall is Breakout. Billed as a ‘live escape room game’, its popularity has exploded since its opening last year.

But what exactly is Breakout? MM sent five of its finest reporters to get the skinny.
To start with, teams of two to five people are locked in one of five rooms – each with its own theme – with the objective of using clues to solve the puzzle to escape in less than 60 minutes.
The cerebral nature of Breakout makes it feel like a mixture of ‘90s challenge television shows like Fort Boyard, the Crystal Maze and the Cube.
With the demand for alternatives to the typical night out growing, businesses like Breakout have sprung up across the country to fill a gap in the market.
To see how the MM team got on in the Sabotage room, watch the video below.

This video was produced by MM reporter’s Ben Weich, Michael Hincks, James Gray, Adam Lacey and Ben Pringle.
