‘Give me your phone or I’ll slash your face’: CCTV of woman bottled in Northern Quarter robbery

By Katie Jones

CCTV footage of an attack on a 23-year-old woman who was robbed of her phone, told that her face would be slashed and smashed over the head with a glass bottle in Tib Street has been released.

The woman was approached from behind as she was walking in the Northern Quarter at around 5.10am on Saturday July 20 when the offender demanded the victim to ‘give me your phone, or I’ll slash your face’.

After striking her head with a glass bottle, the victim handed over her phone, but the white male pursued her as she sought help from a taxi driver whom the offender told to ignore his ‘drunk girlfriend’.

Police Constable Dave Stebbings said: “As well as being physically injured the victim has been left totally traumatised as a result of this incident.

“Not content with assaulting and robbing her of her phone, he has followed her, belittled her in front of a taxi driver and continued to assault her.

“We have been able to track his movements across the city and have recovered some excellent CCTV images of who we think this person is getting on a bus in the city.

“I would urge the public to look closely at these images and if you think you recognise the offender to please call us.”

It is thought the victim was unaware of his approach because she was listening to music.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 3221, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
