Bolton had enough chances against Yeovil to win three GAMES not points, claims Dougie Freedman

By Scott Hunt

Bolton had enough opportunities to win not only three points but three games, Dougie Freedman claimed after Wanderers’ draw with Yeovil.

Alex Baptiste’s added time equaliser rescued a point for Bolton against Yeovil but manager Dougie Freedman felt it was poor finishing that cost them the three.

The 1-1 draw is enough to move winless Bolton off the bottom of the SkyBet Championship though not enough to take the pressure off their under-fire manager.

“We had enough opportunities to not only win one game, but three games,” he said.

“Some of our approach play has been wonderful, not only today but throughout the season.

“We’re lacking confidence in and around the box. Our problem is all our strikers are right now. We’re not finishing teams off when we’re on top.”

The home side had the better chances throughout. However it was Yeovil who struck first with 11 minutes left, as Bolton keeper Adam Bogdan let a tame shot from Edward Upson trickle through his legs.

That sparked boos from sections of the home support at The Reebok though Freedman thanked the fans for their support.

“The crowd were fantastic today – they got right behind us,” he said.

“They’re disappointed and I understand that in terms of them wanting to see wins.”

Defender Alex Baptiste, remarkably now the clubs top scorer this season, headed the equaliser in added time to avoid a potentially embarrassing defeat and marginally ease the pressure on his manager.

Bolton face Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday with a much-needed win the aim for Freedman.

“When we get that first win there’s enough evidence to show we’ll be riding high from then on,” he said.

“We’re ready to go against Blackpool. We’re ready to go for it.”

“Everything is going wrong for us right now but you won’t get any whinging and moaning from me. I will fix this.”
