‘Let’s puts things right’: Rochdale’s Matty Done wants to avenge 3-1 defeat suffered at Dagenham & Redbridge

By Josh Nicholls

Rochdale’s Matty Done believes his team have a score to settle when Dagenham & Redbridge arrive at Spotland in League Two on Saturday.

Dale are looking to respond to last weekend’s FA Cup exit against Sheffield Wednesday by avenging the 3-1 defeat they suffered in east London back in October.

It was a game Keith Hill’s side dominated, having 23 shots to the hosts eight, only to be hit on the break three times by the Daggers and Done wants to set the record straight this weekend.

“Dagenham away was one of those games,” Done told MM. “In the first ten minutes it could’ve been two or three nil to us and then with their first half-chance they scored and the 3-1 was an injustice, it was never a 3-1 performance.”

“So we’re looking forward to putting that one right.

“We fancy ourselves against anyone (at Spotland) our home record has been brilliant this season and the lads enjoy playing at home because it is such a fortress.”

A victory over 11th place Dagenham could send Dale second in the table (they currently lie fourth) and as the promotion race hots up, Done stressed the importance of all 19 remaining games.

“We’ve got 19 cup finals now to make sure we get promoted,” he added. “We’ve proved on our day we’ll beat anyone especially at home.

“We just seem to click at home. We dictate the kind of game we want to play, we get it down and pass it and the pitch is in good condition at this stage of the season which helps our game.”
