Six people have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody after a man died following an altercation outside a Levenshulme home.

At around 6.45pm last night, police were called to Barlow Road, which remains closed.

Officers attended along with paramedics who found the 40-year-old man with serious injuries and took him to hospital.

However, he later died at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

As a result of subsequent police inquiries, six people – three men aged 34, 29 and 42, and three women aged 23, 23 and 65 – were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police stress they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Superintendent Neil Bhole said: “A man has lost his life in tragic circumstances and we are working hard to bring the offenders to justice.

“We would appeal to anyone who has any information about what happened or who was in the area and may have seen what happened to contact police.

“We are working closely with the community and our partners and will have high visibility patrols in the area over the coming days.”

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are ongoing.
