By Danielle Wainwright

A man has died and another rushed to hospital after they were both stabbed this morning in Longsight.

The incident happened on Parry Road at around 12.40am where two men were found with stab wounds.

They were both rushed to hospital where one man died of his injuries. The other 23-year-old man is being treated and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A large police cordon has been set up on Parry Road, Rushford Street and Prout Street and police have launched an investigation into the man’s death.

Detective Superintendent Jon Chadwick said: “This investigation is only a few hours old so we are very much in the early stages of establishing exactly what has happened and the events leading up to this man’s death.

“We have not yet identified who this man is so the main focus of our inquiries are to establish who he is, make contact with any family members and build up an accurate picture of what has led to his death.

“What we do know is that some sort of altercation took place that has resulted in two men being stabbed, one of whom has now died.”

Police have increased patrols in the area and are also appealing to the public for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
