The time is now: Rosler tells Wigan to start long winning run against Fulham

Wigan Athletic’s first victory since the end of August last weekend has given Uwe Rosler the confidence to tell his side to seize the moment and start winning regularly.

Rosler will be locking horns with Fulham manager and ex Manchester City teammate Kit Symons at the weekend, his counterpart equally in need of a victory after his side lost 5-2 to Derby in mid-week.

Wigan have had a poor record against the 20th-placed west London team, their last league victory coming in 2006, but the German boss is sure of his players’ ability.

“After a performance like the one at Derby, I won’t be making big changes. Why would I want to do that?” said Rosler in reference to last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Derby in the dying minutes.

“We’ve got an excellent opportunity to back up our win against Derby tomorrow against Fulham. Then of course we’ve got Brighton and Bolton, it’s a good run of games to show what we can do.

“It’s obvious, now is the time for winning.”

Wigan midfielder Adam Forshaw has expressed how vital it is that his side bring their performance against Derby back to the DW Stadium this weekend.

Forshaw has clocked up seven first team appearances since he joined in the summer and has seen the side show they are ‘as good as anybody’… though he doesn’t expect Fulham will be easy.

“They’ve got some good experienced players like Scott Parker and Hugo Rodallega mixed with some good youngsters as well,” said Forshaw.

“We’ll have to be on our game again but if we play anywhere near the level we did against Derby then I’m sure we’ll be fine.

“We know that we have a good enough squad to compete with the best teams in the Championship.”
