Going out with a bang! Our last minute guide to New Year’s Eve 2015 in Manchester

It is time once again to put on our best sequins and promise ourselves we’ll stick to the resolutions we plan to make ‒ well until the end of January at least.

And with Christmas well and truly over, now is the time to look forward to seeing in 2016.

But what about those of us who’ve got so wrapped up in the presents and the turkey and the boozing that we’ve forgotten to plan the biggest night out of the year?

MM has prepared a guide to the best New Year’s Eve events around Manchester for anyone who has left been a bit on the disorganised side.

For many, heading into the city is a dreaded thought, with little desire to wish strangers a Happy New Year to the dismal wait for taxis. New Year’s Eve is a night which divides opinions.

Despite this, New Year’s Eve remains one of the largest global celebrations. It marks the last day of the year in the Gregorian calendar.

It is a night which combines excitement for a New Year together with feelings of nostalgia as people reflect over the past 12 months.

Although there was uncertainty earlier this year about the annual firework display put on by Manchester City Council, it has been confirmed that this will return this year.

It is believed over 10,000 people will attend to see in 2016,  watching the skies over Manchester City Centre as they illuminate.

Thanks to contributions from local businesses, the event will start at 10pm in Albert Square and will run until approximately 12:30am on New Year’s Day.

For those who don’t fancy heading to the square to watch the fireworks, we have provided some alternative options for you to celebrate this New Year’s Eve.
