Review: Bali Health Lounge @ George Street, Manchester city centre

By Lauren Hirst

A hidden jewel of secret opulence in the heart of Manchester city centre, Bali Health Lounge provides a delectable cocktail of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.

At just 12 months old, Bali Health Lounge is a newcomer to the spa scene and has yet to gain the recognition it deserves.

Nestled in between restaurants and bars on George Street in China Town, the spa has a very unassuming entrance with a set of stairs leading up to the first floor and reception area where no hint is given to the decadent surroundings that lie ahead.

Bali Health Lounge is, naturally, Bali-inspired and the owners have created an exotic hideaway with an authentic Asian feel.

The Balinese decor and fibre optic lighting are hypnotic and leave guests feeling relaxed before they have even sat down in a massage chair.

The first floor is aptly named the Tea House where tea enthusiasts can enjoy an array of herbal, flowers and green teas whilst they wait for their next pampering treatment. Coffee lovers do not need to fret, there is also a selection of coffees to choose from, all gourmet of course.

Rejuvenation pods take over the second floor where guests can enjoy the massage chairs whilst being treated to another massage from one of the spa’s therapists. Two massages at once, it would be rude not to!

The third and final floor houses a nail bar with a collection of colours from nail care specialists, Jessica, as well as treatment rooms where guest can enjoy the spa’s own signature massage oils.

This oasis, for a beauty junkie like myself, ticks all the boxes. Even a fleeting comment about my bad posture during a massage could not dampen my spirits.

The success of the spa is that it makes you feel as if you are light years away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is also the perfect venue for a birthday or hen party due to its sheer size and facilities.

I can’t help but think this is one of Manchester’s best kept secrets – but shhh don’t tell everyone.

The treatments are a very reasonably priced given that you feel as if you are in a five star resort in Bali, and to make the experience even more purse friendly, Bali is currently offering great deals on treatments in the run up to Christmas.

The spa is open seven days a week from 10am to 6pm with late night openings until 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
