Staff were in a fuchsia frenzy at Wythenshawe’s Bonmarche store when they took part in Wear It Pink on Friday.
The nationwide event is held every year to raise money for breast cancer charities.
This year it was the Grand Finale of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Wythenshawe staff held a pink pyjama day to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support by proudly parading, pink pyjamas, slippers and dressing gowns.
Assistant Manager Amy Harrison said: “It’s a fantastic cause and the work they do is amazing.
“It’s a charity I have supported all my life.”
The store was decorated with cerise balloons and their pink tombola boasted a pick of pink prizes, all donated by the generous staff.
The event was ‘rolled-over’ to Saturday so they could raise even more money.
Anne Wheelan, a customer at the event, said: “I think it’s a really good idea. So many people are affected by cancer I will do anything I can to help.
“I’m overwhelmed with the way the ladies have gone all out – they look very pretty.”
Bon Marche stores have been involved in Wear It Pink for the past five years and staff at the Wythenshawe branch have been involved for two years.
Rebecca Guy, Wear It Pink Manager at Breast Cancer Campaign, said on Friday: “We’re thrilled that Bonmarche is supporting Wear It Pink.”
Wear It Pink is the Breast Cancer Campaign’s biggest fundraising event of the year and more than one million people in workplaces across the UK wore pink ties tutus and t-shirts to support it.
Ms Guy said the charity hope to raise £3million to fund research and support the 46,000 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer to affect women in the UK.
Ms Guy, added: “We’re grateful to everyone who has joined in the fuchsia frenzy in 2010 and hope that more people will take part in Wear It Pink next year on Friday 28 October.”
