A Manchester family have been left devastated after a woman was killed during a tragic road collision yesterday.

Police identified the woman as Surinder Kaur Singh after attending the fatal car crash on Cheetham Hill Road near its junction with Knowsley Street shortly after 2.30pm.

The 69-year-old woman was cut free by firefighters and taken to hospital but medical staff were unable to save her life.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood said: “Our thoughts are with Surinder’s family, who have understandably been left devastated following the death of their relative.

“We have officers supporting them as best we can at this difficult time and are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the full facts around what happened. “

Officers found that Ms Singh had been in a collision with a Renault Laguna, which was reversing from the footpath onto Cheetham Hill Road.
