Shar Pei puppy found in Hyde after ‘heartless thieves’ ransack home – but pregnant pedigree dog still missing

By Dean Wilkins

A pedigree puppy stolen by heartless thieves was found in Hyde yesterday – but a pregnant dog also taken is still missing.

Two Shar Pei dogs, worth up to £6,000, were snatched from the owner’s home on Sunbank Lane, Ringway, on April 20 along with electrical items.

Saffina, a one-year-old puppy, was found but Kiara who was just two weeks away from giving birth is missing and police are appealing to the public for information.

Detective Constable Mark Atkinson said: “Anyone who owns or loves pets will share the anguish the owners of Kiara and Saffina are feeling at the moment. This is not about how much the two dogs are worth in monetary terms, but about having two much-loved members of their family snatched by some heartless thieves.”

Kiara is described as being fawn-coloured and has few very wrinkles, which is rare for that breed of dog. She is microchipped with the number 981000002883431.

Anyone with information as to her whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
