Ben Edgar, 20, of Ashton Street, Little Lever, was found guilty of murdering Mark Stephen Leon Wood at Manchester Crown Court and sentenced to life in prison, he was told he will serve a minimum of 12 years.

The thug held a grudge against Mr Wood while he and Edgar’s mum shared a rocky relationship, and the jury found him guilty of murder following a fatal fight between the two at around 3am on June 12.

Officers attended and discovered 28-year-old Mr Wood had been stabbed in the neck – he was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Detective Inspector Andy Cunliffe “A family has been torn apart and a much loved son, brother and father has been killed and I would like to express my deepest sympathy to them.”
