The woman – believed to be in her 30s – was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision on Platt Bridge at around 8.45am.

“The driver of the bus has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.”

The road remains closed as officers continue their investigations and motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.
