Caught on camera: Passer-by captures axe wielding thieves breaking into Sale jewellery store

By Dean Wilkins

Two axe-wielding thieves caught on camera breaking into a Sale jewellery store are being hunted by Greater Manchester Police.

The men stopped on a motorbike outside The Cash Shop on Curzon Road before smashing a window with a large axe to steal three Rolex watches.

The incident, which happened just after 1pm on Saturday June 2, was captured on camera by a passer-by before both offenders fled the scene on the motorbike.

Detective Sergeant Sohail Ahmed, from Trafford CID, said: “These brazen men carried out this robbery in plain view of quite a number of passers-by, who were in the Curzon Road area at the time.

“One member of the public was able to take some pictures of the theft as it happened on his mobile and we have released these in a bid to identify the culprits.”

The three stolen Rolex watches are described as a ladies perpetual watch in yellow gold, a gents gold and silver watch and a gents stainless steel watch.

He added: “If you recognise these men, or if you saw them driving to the scene or away from it afterwards on the stolen motorbike, then please contact us as your information could be vital to our investigation. We are also still trying to trace this bike, so please get in touch if you know where it is.”
