A former Oldham resident is due in court today, charged in connection with the fatal Shaw explosion that left a two-year-old boy dead in June.

Andrew Partington, 27, formerly of Buckley Street, which was destroyed in the monster blast, is charged with manslaughter and criminal damage and will appear at Oldham Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.

The colossal explosion flattened five homes and forced hundreds of families to be evacuated – the incident left one man hospitalised with up to 80 percent burns and killed toddler Jamie Heaton on June 26.

A 32-year-old boiler worker arrested on suspicion of manslaughter remains on police bail pending further inquiries.
