Hundreds of new jobs to come with Virgin’s ‘funky’ v-room at Manchester Airport

Over 100 new jobs are expected to come from Virgin Holidays decision to implement a second ‘v-room’ at Manchester Airport, which should open in July.

It is the second dedicated leisure departure lounge of its kind, the first being at London’s Gatwick Airport.

The Gatwick v-room offers access to the Fast Track security channel and is exclusive to Virgin Holidays customers.

Amanda Wills, Managing Director of Virgin Holidays said: “Along with the current retail outlets we have in the Trafford Centre and in Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds and across the region, and those coming up in Chester, Warrington and Darlington, and the 100-plus jobs we will be creating here, this v-room is a further demonstration of our commitment to our customers in Manchester and across the North West.”

Virgin say the new Manchester v-room will be a relaxing, beautifully designed and funky space.

The v-room will be a short walk from the departure gates in Terminal 2 and will be able to accommodate up to 100 people.

Josie, from Ireland, said: “We used the v room (in Gatwick) in December 2008 and we thought it was worth it. There were nice, comfy chairs and sofas, views of the runway, excellent internet and games, newspapers, peace and quiet and as much breakfast, tea, coffee and juice you can hold. We found it a lovely way to start our holiday.”

Admission to the Manchester v-room will be £20 for adults, and £12 per child (infants are free), with complimentary access for all Virgin Holidays customers staying at a Platinum Collection hotel. Tickets are on sale now for Virgin Holidays customers departing from Manchester Airport from 1st July 2011.
