Ferocious fire destroys Salford food factory as 50 firefighters battle blaze

By Dean Wilkins

A blaze that destroyed a food factory in Salford is being investigated by firefighters.

The fire happened at a building on Cobden Street, Pendleton, and around 50 crew members were on scene at the height of the blaze at around 11.30pm.

Crews worked through the night to extinguish the fire at the warehouse and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.

Station Manager Paul Etches said: “It is a building used for food production and the fire is believed to have started in the storage area. It’s a massive building and the crews did a really good job preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the building.”
