Machete-wielding men force staff and customers onto knees in ‘terrifying’ Failsworth pub robbery

Machete-wielding masked robbers forced ‘terrified’ staff and customers of a Failsworth pub onto their knees during a hold-up this week.

Four men, one armed with a large knife believed to be a machete, threatened staff and customers of The Woodhouse Gardens Inn on Medlock Road.

They stole money from the till before making their getaway through the front door – the incident happened around 10.15pm on Wednesday.

Detective Constable Ian Lloyd from Oldham CID said: “Although no one was injured during this robbery, to be made to get on the floor by a man holding a machete must have been a terrifying experience for the customers and staff that were there.

“We believe the men made off in a car from outside the pub and are appealing to anyone that may have seen a car speeding away from the Woodhouse Gardens area, to get in touch with us.”

Police are now appealing anyone with information to come forward and contact CID directly on 0161 856 8951 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
