Concerns are growing for the safety of a missing teenage Bury girl who has not been seen for more than a week.
Katie McLuney, 16, was last seen by her family at Chelsea Avenue, Radcliffe, on January 5 and police are stepping up their hunt to find her.
The public are now being asked to help with the search for Katie, who has made contact with her family since disappearing but refused to tell them where she was.
Detective Inspector Carol Hobson, based at Bury, said: “It is natural that Katie’s family are growing more concerned as the days pass by since they last saw her.
“We share these concerns and are working hard to locate her and bring her home.
“As part of this we would like to appeal directly to Katie to get back in touch and let us or your family know where you are.
“You are not in any trouble at all – everyone just wants to know you are safe.
“I also want to remind people that deliberately harbouring a teenage girl can be treated as a criminal offence.”
Katie is white with long, brown hair and green eyes. When last seen she was wearing a black tank top, dark blue Adidas top, black leggings, possibly pink trainers and carrying a bag.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
