The Rock shopping centre in Bury is hosting a Fashion Spectacular this Saturday to find the town’s ‘Style Icon’.
Following a Facebook campaign searching for local models, 12 finalists have been selected and they’ll all be striking a pose at the glamorous event.
The Rock representative Nikki Kitchen said: “The response was amazing. We had hundreds of entrants and it was really difficult picking our final 12.”
The ‘Fashion Spectacular’ will feature various catwalk shows, where the shopping centre’s clothing outlets will preview their latest ranges.
Retailers hope the public will like the outfits debuted on the runway.
Heather Titterton, Assistant Manger of Oasis, said: “This is a great opportunity for the public to see our fantastic new lines for the Autumn/Winter season.
“We’ll be showcasing six new outfits and we hope they’ll raise an interest in our store. Saturday is the first real chance we’ve had to introduce ourselves to the people of Bury.”
Local artists The Big Beat and Redwire will also be performing at the event, taking centre stage in between the fashion shows to provide live music for shoppers.
Ms. Kitchen said: “Since The Rock opened in June, we’ve really wanted to recreate the sense of community in Bury.
“That’s why we’ve enlisted so many performers from the region to be part of every event we‘ve held and The Rock Fashion Spectacular will be no different.”
This Saturday’s event begins at 10am and finishes at 6pm when the winner of the Rock Style Icon competition will be announced.
As a special treat, the first 50 people to arrive at The Rock will receive a limited edition t-shirt designed by Northern fashion duo, HussainDeyn.
