Kamar Anderson, 25, of West Gorton, was arrested and charged by police on suspicion of murder, violent disorder and GBH and remains in custody.

John Barret, 31, was attending a private party at Sinclair’s Bar, Drake Street, Rochdale, before a group of up to 20 men gate-crashed the event at 2.40am.

There was large scale disruption which resulted in Mr Barret being left with serious stab wounds.
