Katy B kicks off summer of live music in Oldham Library as part of region-wide ‘Get It Loud In Libraries’ scheme

By Helen Le Caplain

UK chart sensation Katy B is to perform at Oldham Library on June 4 as the opening performance of a series of live music events.

The Dubstep and UK Garage star will appear among the bookshelves at the Greaves Street venue as part of the region-wide award-winning ‘Get It Loud In Libraries’ scheme.

Councillor Hugh McDonald, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Families, Leisure and Culture said that he was sure the gig would be well received.

“We are pleased such a high profile star as Katy B will be performing in Oldham Library and I’m sure the gig will be well supported by locals.

“Oldham Libraries’ Summer of Live Music promises to provide young people with a great opportunity to listen to top stars and show off their talents.”

Katy B’s first single, ‘Katy On a Mission’, reached number five in the UK Singles Chart and number one on the UK Indie Chart.

Her follow-up single, Lights On, featured Ms Dynamite and got to number four.

Two lucky residents can see her for free courtesy of Go! Oldham. To be in with a chance of winning the tickets – usually priced at £16.50 – all you need to do is email your contact details to [email protected] by May 30.

‘Get It Loud In Libraries’ initiative aims to attract new young people into libraries, give them a great time and challenge their perceptions about what modern libraries offer.

Oldham Libraries’ Summer of Live Music event includes gigs, song writing workshops, acoustic sessions and the Go Oldham! Battle of the Bands competition.

Tickets to see Katy B are available either from or from Oldham Library.
