Pensioner fights for life after being hit by cyclist in Altrincham

An 81-year-old man hit by a cyclist in Altrincham last night is in hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries.

At about 6.40pm the man was on a pelican pedestrian crossing over Manchester Road, Broadheath when the 22-year-old cyclist collided with him, next to the junction of Devonshire Road.

A passing doctor began treating the man’s serious head injuries before he was taken to Salford Royal Hospital in a critical condition.

The young cyclist left uninjured.
